In the name of the mother: The status of fathers in Israeli social\npolicy, as seen through parental leave and work hour regulation. <em>Hevra\nVe\u2019Revaha<\/em>, 38 (2), 281-310<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nrising commitment of fathers to household labor in general and to childcare\nspecifically receives public attention in the recent decade in Israel. The\nIsraeli society is experiencing a wide public discussion on changes in fathers&#8217;\nrole and their rising involvement in childcare. This discussion, however, does\nnot extend to the field of social policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This\npaper will examine the social policy aimed at enabling fathers to care for\ntheir children in Israel. I will focus on the area of Work Family balance, an\narea meant to enable parents to balance their commitment to the paid labor\nmarket and their responsibility and desire to provide proper care to their\nchildren. Specifically, this paper will focus on two areas of policy included\nin this field: parental leave and work hour regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In these two fields, the paper will describe the legal situation and the options fathers face, and will then turn to examine the considerations that lead the policy design, aiming to identify how <g class=\"gr_ gr_3 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del\" id=\"3\" data-gr-id=\"3\">policy makers<\/g> perceive the role of fathers in the family and the aim of the legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n<a href=\"http:\/\/nadav.blogdebate.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/4102-\u05d1\u05e9\u05dd-\u05d4\u05d0\u05dd.pdf\" class=\"pdfemb-viewer\" style=\"\" data-width=\"max\" data-height=\"max\"  data-toolbar=\"bottom\" data-toolbar-fixed=\"off\">4102-\u05d1\u05e9\u05dd-\u05d4\u05d0\u05dd<br\/><\/a>\n<p class=\"wp-block-pdfemb-pdf-embedder-viewer\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Perez-Vaisvidovsky, N.
